Boys of Tommen Book #1

“I wanted to fight all her battles. I wanted to give her all her smiles and make her laugh and snatch her away from the rest of the world and keep her all to myself. I just wanted her. For keeps.”

Binding 13 is a romance book about two main characters Shannon and Johnny who come from two different lifestyles, and after an unfortunate accident become friends. Johnny is the star rugby player and Shannon is the new girl at school. After Johnny accidently hits Shannon on the head with the rugby ball he feels like he needs to protect her in any way possible and become a good friend to her, not knowing it could lead to more. Johnny finds out more of Shannon’s past and why she ended up coming to Tommen College, which increases his want to protect her at any cost. Throughout the book it describes the relationship between Shannon and Johnny, family dynamics, friendship and the struggles every character has.

“For once in my life, I wanted a safe place to run to instead of from.
I felt like I was slowly dying in that house.
In my home.
Where I was supposed to lay my head.
Where I was supposed to feel safe.”

Being the first book of this series I think the author has created a good basic understanding of the characters, relationships, and how the story can easily merge throughout the books. At times it seemed like the author put a lot of information that is not 100% necessary and can seem like it is a little redundant but it is an easy to read book. The beginning was a little slow but picked up about half way, and by the end I was chuckling to myself, couldn’t put the book down and wanted to know what was going to happen next as soon as possible. I am excited for the second book and can’t wait to see what the series holds.

“¨I think I need you for keeps.¨
¨I think I need you for keeps, too.¨”
